THE 212 - Fundamentals of Acting Two

3 Credits

An advanced course in acting that focuses on scene study and the practice of classical acting styles while exploring historical theories of character development. Students will explore character and relationships through script analysis, character analysis, rehearsal, and performance. This course also provides students with the tools necessary to prepare for auditions and create a marketable resumé for a future in theatre.

Prerequisite(s): THE 112.

Course Learning Outcomes
1, Discuss how the history of Acting has impacted contemporary Acting techniques
2. Examine classical Acting styles including Ancient High Greek, Elizabethan, and French Restoration
3. Analyze scripts to illustrate character motivation, objectives, tactics, according to character relationships and dramatic action of the play
4. Demonstrate an understanding of character development, mechanics, and acting styles through performance of various scenes for an audience of peers.
5. Create a written critique of a full-scale theatrical production in regard to actors’ performances, director’s concept, and audience reaction
6. Create a professional theatrical resumé
